invites applicants for the position of 

 

Youth Programming Summer Student

(This is an 8-week contract position) 

 

The Powassan & District Union Public Library is dedicated to providing knowledge, cultural and heritage exposure, entertainment, and a venue for social interaction through innovative programs and services. 

Job duties include:

  • Planning and facilitating virtual Girls Who Code sessions 

  • Planning engaging and entertaining virtual programming for local youth incorporating literacy, STEAM and outdoor activities

  • Maintaining the library’s community-wide StoryWalk initiative 

  • Working alongside the Programming & Communication Coordinator to develop and distribute promotional materials and create content for social media 

 

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a professional manner

  • Excellent computer skills

  • Willingness to initiate contact with agencies/individuals

  • The ability to learn quickly and adapt to surroundings 

 

Employment Start Date: June 21, 2021

Outreach Summer Student

The Powassan & District Union Public Library is dedicated to providing knowledge, cultural and heritage exposure, entertainment, and a venue for social interaction through innovative programs and services. 

Job duties include:

  • Promoting the library at community events*

  • Enhancing the library’s existing local history tours with the digitization of the tour

  • Conducting walking tours for groups*

  • Planning engaging and entertaining virtual programming for local youth incorporating literacy, STEAM and outdoor activities  

 

if possible, given Covid-19 restrictions

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a professional manner

  • Excellent computer skills

  • Willingness to initiate contact with agencies/individuals

  • The ability to learn quickly and adapt to surroundings
